We finally broke ground in our garden this week. So far only one tomato plant has been eaten by an escapee goat. We planted tomatoes, paprika peppers, rosa eggplant and greek basil in our first bed. This one bed is bigger than any garden we've ever had and we still have so much more space for more. We are eagerly waiting for our first bite of a tomato sandwich with salt.

Paneer

Yesterday I made my first batch of paneer with Buttercups milk. I haven't had the nerve to seperate her kids from her at night. We tried it one night and they screamed so much and Buttercup ran around the pen screaming for the babies and frantically searching. We couldn't bear to watch it so we put them back in with her. I've been bringing Buttercup out of the pen during the day now and milking her after shes been out for a few hours. I only get about half a mason jar of milk but my conscience is doing much better as a result. The paneer was lovely. I made palak paneer for dinner. It's nice to finally be able to reap the benefits of farming, for so long we've had a lot of work and very little tangible rewards.
